Meet Our Team

Team member Dr. Anna Chan the veterinarian at Abraham Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Anna Y. Chan, DVM

Dr. Anna Y. Chan is the primary veterinarian at Abraham Veterinary Clinic and has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1989. The practice owner since 1997, Dr. Chan has continued to offer and enhance the compassionate case that Dr. Robert Abraham, the founding veterinarian, provided his clients for twenty years.

Dr. Chan focuses on providing primary care to dogs and cats and has developed extensive experience in treating geriatric pets. Dr. Chan also practices traditional Chinese medical techniques such as acupuncture. Dr. Chan emphasizes spending time with clients, talking about the details of their pet’s medical needs and condition.

Before taking over fully for Dr. Abraham, Dr. Chan worked as a relief veterinarian at Abraham Veterinary Clinic as well as other clinics in the Austin area for six years. Prior to her experiences in Austin, Dr, Chan practiced for two years in Las Vegas, NV and provided veterinary care to such notables as Jerry Lewis and David Copperfield. Dr. Chan received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Chan and her husband Ben stay busy with their two boys, Reece and Jaden. When they have a reprieve from acting as chauffers to kids’ soccer and lacrosse games, you might find them walking their two dogs – a Welsh Pembroke corgi ‘Boomer’ and newly adopted chihuahua mix ‘Agedashi Tofu Mango’ along the trails in the Mueller development.

Team member Jennifer

Jennifer, Management

Jen discovered her love for the veterinary industry through working at Abraham Vet Clinic since January of 2009. She has a degree in Mathematics and Education from Texas A&M but now is just an old-fashioned workaholic. When she is not working at UPS or the clinic, you might find her playing soccer in Round Rock or hanging out with friends at the fields. If there is any true free time, Jen is usually chilling with her pudgy cat Sage (who she adopted from Abraham Vet Clinic) and watching her Pittsburgh Steelers or traveling to her favorite vacation spot: Las Vegas!

Shannon, Client Services Representative

Shannon moved to Austin, Texas from Slidell, Louisiana with her fiancé in August of 2017. After working several odd jobs she started at Abraham Vet Clinic in May 2018 and quickly discovered a love for all things pets. Here at Abraham she has a particular interest in surgery prep and meeting all the new clients and patients that walk through the doors. When not at work (which isn’t much), Shannon and her wife Jessie enjoy playing video games, watching scary movies, and generally relaxing with their cats Tara and Witch Hazel.

Emily, Veterinary Assistant

Emily joined the Abraham Vet team in March of 2021. A native Texan, Emily discovered her love of animal care through various boarding and puppy daycare jobs over the last few years. She realized her true passion for veterinary medicine after joining our team at Abraham Vet and finds particular interest in animal behavior and stress management. Emily is currently pursuing her veterinary technician’s license outside of the clinic. When she is not working, Emily enjoys baking and cooking (and we love when she brings us treats) and spoiling her new dog Agnes.

Team member Drew

Drew, Technician

Drew has been with Abraham Veterinary Clinic since early 2014. He enjoys handling the patients and monitoring anesthesia for surgeries. When he is not at the clinic, he is playing trivia around town or hanging out with his orange cat Baxter.

Drew has moved on to AVES to pursue other adventures but you may catch a glimpse of him helping us out here from time to time.
